- Jacob Joshua ben Tzevi Hirsch Falk
(1680-1756)
Polish talmudist. He served as a rabbi in several Polish and German cities; his yeshivah at Lwow became the centre of rabbinic learning in Poland. In 1730 he became a rabbi in Berlin and later in Frankfurt am Main, though he resigned the latter post because of his support for the rabbinical scholar Jacob Emden. His Pene Yehoshua contains novellae on the Talmud.
